Interfaith Silent Prayer Vigil at Atlanta ICE Field Office

For nearly 3 months, an interfaith group representing multiple religious traditions has been meeting for silent prayer in support of immigrant communities in Atlanta and our nation. We gather weekly, sing, stand/sit/kneel in prayer for ~15 min, and then pray together once more before departing. Some of us hold signs to show our support for people walking into their appointments at the ICE field office. We have felt safe, welcomed, been thanked by passers by, and even had children join us without incident. All are invited to attend!

Exciting families updates

We’re excited to welcome Clover Wegrzynowicz-Garcia-Avila (they/them) as our new families ministry intern! Clover has been worshiping with us, but will now be stepping into a new role and has great experience as a teacher and advocate.

Clover is a middle school special education teacher in Dekalb County and discerning a call to ministry. They have experience with disability advocacy since college and are part of the disability community themselves.

Their favorite past-time is reading and writing poetry. You can find them at the park, with their cats, or in the kitchen trying to be a serious baker.

The nursery room is now open! We’ve been providing nursery care for infants upstairs, but moving forward we’ll have the nursery open 1045a-12p every Sunday. We’re expecting numerous new infants in our church family this spring! Nursery care is available 945-1045a in the children’s room upstairs.

40s & under group starting new book in Nov

40s & Under Book Club
Thursdays 8p/Zoom

Mostly (but not exclusively) in our 20s and 30s, we meet Thursdays 8p ET on Zoom for fun & conversation.

On Nov 6 we will start The Wicked Truth: When Good People Do Bad Things by Suzanne Ross. Described as “the thinking person’s guide to the wildly successful musical Wicked…the book challenges the very framework of our culture, our understanding of Good and Evil, as well as our sense of right and wrong.”
