Pride is this weekend Oct 10 & 11!
All are invited to join us as we share God’s love for all LGBTQ+ folks. Your pastoral team especially encourages straight allies to participate this year at a time when LGBTQ+ communities are under attack. Here’s how you can help:
Saturday & Sunday: Volunteer at the “Flaming Baptists” booth
We have a booth in partnership with other pro-LGBTQ Baptist churches. Volunteers will hand out stickers and other goodies and talk to people who stop by. Please note that even if a shift is “full” you’re welcome to be at the booth at that time, it’s a minimum not a maximum. To sign up for a shift, click here.
Sunday only: March in the Pride parade!
We will Uber down after service on Sunday and march as a church in the parade and hand out stickers.
- The march is from roughly 1-3p, a distance of 2.2 miles. It is safe and largely family-friendly.
- Plan on attending service as usual. There will be no Bible study this Sunday. Instead, from 10-11a we will be in the parlor making signs, packing bags of goodies, etc.
- We will uber down to the rally point together immediately after service. At the end of the parade, you can either explore the festival or uber/truck back to the church. Our row assignment is Row E, on West Peachtree between Pine and Ivan Allen, next to Civic Center Marta. If you need to meet directly at the staging point, please contact Pastor Colin.
- Can’t walk? We will have a truck to ride in! Please let Pastor Colin know asap if you plan to do so in case seats are limited.
- Bring comfortable shoes, sunscreen, water, and snacks. There is limited food until you reach the festival. You can also bring a sign. We will have stickers to hand out and flags, a banner, etc.
- We are at the mercy of parade organizers on timing, so the march could start right away or we may need to wait.
- After the parade you are free to explore the festival or return to church.
